How do I solve these Algebra problems. ASAP!?

I need help with these problems. Please be thorough and informative.

Write the equation of each parabola in vertex form.

- Vertex (0,5), point (1,-2)

- Vertex (1/4 , -3/2), point (1,3)

Write each function in standard form.

y = -(3x-4)squared + 6

y = 1/2(x-5)squared + 5

y = (1-4x)squared +1

Please help me I will give best answer for the most thorough answer that includes work and correct answer. =D

Update:

But the book only gives me some questions that only give me a point. and i really want to know how to solve those. I know how to solve it when it states the Y-Int.

  • For the parabola problem, you need another point for it to have a solution.

    y = -(3x-4)squared + 6

    = - ( 9 x^2 - 24 x + 16 ) + 6

    = -9 x^2 + 24 x - 10

    y = 1/2(x-5)squared + 5

    = ( x^2 - 10 x + 25 )

    .....----------------------------........+......5

    .................2

    =x^2 / 2 - 5 x + 12.5 + 5

    =x^2 / 2 - 5 x + 17.5

    y = (1-4x)squared +1

    = 16 x^2 - 8 x + 1 + 1

    = 16 x^2 - 8 x + 2
