VGA connector vs DVI vs HDMI?
is there any difference? will the quality of picture descend when i use VGA?
i see some HD displays without a DVI port(white) and i am planning on building a gaming rig with a good display.
and what are they bragging about 1megapixel?

Depends just how big you want to go!
As far as I was aware, a typical DVI actually has LOWER rez than a top-quality VGA. The latter depends on the quality of your graphics card / it's digital-analogue converter / the cable, whereas the former cares little for those things (doesn't even need a DAC...) but has limits on how much bandwidth its signal has. Going up into the 2048x1536 realm which VGA is capable of needs a less common dual-link DVI card/cable/monitor. I think "full HD" (1920x1080x60p) is about where single-link craps out.
Mind you, to do that 2048x1536, and at a decent refresh rate, without being horridly fuzzy, does require GOOD video circuitry and cabling for analogue and a short run if possible.
Remember too that DVI can be analogue as well as digital - particularly if you're dual-heading, unless it's dual link (and limited to the lower resolutions per screen), one will still be VGA-or-worse standard analogue.
For lower resolutions, I haven't seen any discernable difference even in detailed, static images, unless there's a crap, long-run cable involved and/or interference (when things DO start looking bad). For games and video where stuff moves around a lot at high speed, and your monitor is likely right next to the PC, you won't be able to tell. DVIs advantage at the moment is mainly in dual screening and reduced component complexity (for digital-only sockets).
Incidentally, 1 megapixel = Approx 1152x864 resolution (or, say, 1366x768). Which VGA handles just fine in normal conditions, given the number of 1280x1024 monitors I've used with it that display perfectly crisp text and smooth block-fill colours. It's a little over 720p HDTV quality (obviously). I'm not sure who's "bragging about" it or in what context?

VGA is analog. DVI and HDMI are digital.
If you have a monitor and computer both with digital connections, the picture will be better with DVI or HDMI than with VGA
The digital signal in the HDMI connection is the the exact same signal as DVI -- HDMI has a different connector and carries sound as well, which DVI does not do. You can get a DVI - HDMI adaptor to run a HDMI monitor on a DVI output.
DVI and HDMI are digital signals (transmits video data in 0's and 1's), so they are "bit-perfect" and the preferred connection for A/V enthusiasts doing Blu-Ray playback. Since VGA is analog, it is by definition not bit-perfect.
If you will be doing things on your setup like playing back Blu-Ray discs at full 1080p high definition, DVI / HDMI is the way to go. If you won't be doing that, VGA will do just fine.
The above guy is wrong, by the way. Single-link DVI supports up to 1920x1440@60p maximum, so 1080p is well within single-link DVI / HDMI's capabilities.
Also, dual-link DVI goes up to 2560x1600. VGA cannot go up that high-- It tops out at 2048x1536. Which is why all 2560x1600 monitors like the 30-inch Apple Cinema Display, the Dell 3008WFP, HP LP3065, etc. all have dual-link DVI only. These 30-inch WQXGA monitors will NOT work with VGA.
Those 30-inch WQXGA monitors by the way displays 4 megapixels.
If you want the best quality picture, definitely choose DVI or HDMI over VGA. The latter is an older technology that uses analog signals rather than digital. Its max resolution is also lower than DVI.

VGA is analog, so if you want quality perhaps even HD, then DVI or HDMI is the only way forward. You can get graphics cards with HDMI on them now and that's what I recommend.
