  • EDIT:

Click the Spanner/Wrench icon in the top right of your browser.

    Click on "Options".

The Options pane will open with [Basics] selected.

Click on the "Manage Search Engines..." button.

    You will have two blocks:

    (Top) : Default Search Options

    (Bottom) : Other Search Engines

See if you have a Google entry in the top block.

    It will look something like:

    Google       google       {google:baseURL}search?{google:...

If it is not in BOLD, simply hold your mouse over it, and a button will appear.

The button will say "Make Default".

    Click it.

If you do not have an entry for it, add it.

(You can add it in the bottom block, and make it the Default.)

The full entry for the last field is: (No spaces. All on one line)

    {google:baseURL} search? {google:RLZ} {google: acceptedSuggestion} {google: originalQueryForSuggestion} {google: searchFieldtrialParameter} {google: instantFieldTrialGroupParameter} sourceid= chrome&ie= {inputEncoding} &q=%s

Or, if that is a hassle, just do this:

    Google       google       {google:baseURL}search?q=%s

If that doesn't work, you may have to uninstall and re-install Google Chrome.

But before you do that, follow these steps:

    Open a new tab.

Type this into the address bar:

    chrome://flags/

    Press Enter.

Click "Enable" on an entry called "Enable syncing of search engines".

Close the tab, and restart Chrome.

Click the Spanner/Wrench icon in the top right of your browser.

    Click on "Options".

The Options pane will open with [Basics] selected.

    Click on [Personal Stuff].

    Enable Syncing.

You will need your GMail Address and Password.

If it is enabled, click on the "Customize" button.

    Choose whatever options you want.

Bookmarks, Passwords, and Autofill would be the most important.

    (I have everything selected.)

    Click OK.

It should take some time to sync everything.

Note: Not all Apps and Extensions can be synced.

When everything is synced, uninstall Chrome.

    Download and re-install Chrome again.

    Simply enable syncing.

Wait for everything to be re-added to Chrome.

    Important:

If more than one person uses the computer and Chrome, SIGN OUT (Stop syncing) afterwards.

You can then remove the synced data from your Google account by going to this link:

    https://www.google.com/dashboard/b/0/?pli=1

(It will be under "Chrome Sync".)

If it is only you that uses the computer or Chrome, then you don't have to delete the data.

    END EDIT

You don't say which browser you are using.

    Simply go to

    http://www.google.com/

    and search for

    "set <browser> google search"

That should give you links with steps to reset Google Search in your browser.

    Or, install the Google Toolbar.

(Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox only.)

  • you have to re install the google bar
