Ok so I read this book, and it was really sad and made me depressed for 3 days. I just cried non stop for no reason. Do you think i have a problem, does anyone else get like this? is it normal?
Your reaction to the book does seem more than usual. It would be problematic if, and only if, you were unable to function in any other way, eating, sleeping, responding to or interacting with friends and family, working, watching tv, etc.
Usually, the reaction you identified happens when one connects on an emotional level with content of the book or identifies with a character in the book.
There is no such thing as normal. As humans beings, we all respond differently.
When I watched "The Notebook" (book by Nicholas Sparks) I cried for hours after watching it, and couldn't stop thinking about how sad but so incredibly romantic the whole situation was!
I think that we s/times read/ watch s/thing and then make it really be about our own lives and how we would react if s/thing like that happend to us! At least that's what I think,.
So, in my unexpert opinion (b/c I am not a doctor) I don't think you have a problem unless you call being sensitive a problem!
Maybe you have other things going on in your life that you didn't want to cry about and reading this sad movie made you more emotional then normal about those other things! Or maybe you are just really sensitive. Either way I don't think you have a problem.
No you don't have a problem. People can get really into a book and feel how the characters feel. If the book has a sad ending then it's therefore logical that you the reader are made sad.
That has happened to me watching a TV documentary or reading a book. It's normal. It's good that you've expressed it out rather than keep it in. I think so.
yup. it sure does happen to me often as i get my hair cut. i even got touched by a gameboy andvance game once, and i'm a boy.! books (the mask, by dean koontz) occationally freak me out, too. hey, if ya have time, e-mail me and i'll do the best councelling i can-i'm a peer education volunteer, high school.
