How to ask a girl to prom?

Alright, so there's this girl that I've sort of been friends with for a while who I want to ask out to prom. However, the last few days were a little different cause I spent allot more time with her then I usually would. Anyways, I want to ask her to prom, but I'm kind of scared sh'ell say no. Also, I'm not exactly sure how I should do it. I've heard allot of people doing creative things like spelling out "prom?" in flowers or other things like that. But can I just go up to her and ask her "Want to go to Prom?" Do you think that would be a good idea? Thanks!

    If she has a car get window paint and on the windshield wright" prom?" And on the driver and passenger Window do check yes or no boxes. And yes your idea is great.
