Serious problem with computer?

I have a Gateway GT4010 and for the past 4 days i've tried to get the computer to work but it's not. When I turn it on it loads the way it normally should and then when you click on the different user accounts it'll act like it's going to load and it freezes to where you can't move the mouse AT ALL.. this usually happens within 5 mins of turning it on. Does anyone know anything about this problem or know of any way I can fix it?

Update:

i have 3 user accounts and it lets me get to the desktop and then it freezes, it doesnt let you click on anything it just freezes up

    press and hold the F8 key while booting to start in safe mode, do a spyware scan and virus scan to see if you have some trojans or bugs in there. Good luck

    How many user accounts do you have?

    Does this computer let you get into the desktop?
