Alot of people confuse dandelions with daisies. Daisies are white flowers with a yellowish button in the middle. Dandelions are yellow flowers (resembling a smaller version of sunflower) with a brownish button. You most likely have dandelions, which are weeds, and any weed killer will work.
They are perennials so you'll have to dig them up roots and all and discard them. Try to do this before they flower--so no seeds are scattered from the flower heads.
