Skinwalkers (witch doctors who can change shape to any animal they wear the pelt of)
Djinn (Hindu vampires who make their prey visit a dream world whilst they drain them dry over a period of days)
Any shifters of were's, they're all humans who can become animals/monsters
Witches, depending on your mythologies
Tricksters, demigods who mess with people's heads, are able to create things from thin air.
Vampires, humans with fangs, yet again, depends on the mythology.
Sidhe- Irish fairies who can appear in human form and live amoungst people but aren't human themselves.
Ghouls, depending on the mythology they can be shapeshifter a who can take on the flesh of those they have eaten or they can been humanoid and they just cannibalise.
Magi- mage's are humans who can wield magic, different to the gender specific witches, often always human unlike other spellcasters.
Demons can possess people, so can angels.
Nymphs- Greek sea creatures who take on guises of beautiful women to lure men.
Sirens- also Greek creatures who appear as beautiful women and use creepy mind powers to drive men insane or to their deaths.
Wendigo- Native American in origin. The body and spirit of someone who has resorted to cannibalism due to drought, snowed in with no food or another similar reason and the consumption of human flesh traits their body and over time they become subhuman. They develop super strength, insatiable hunger and an attitude to match. Ever seen pet Sematary? That's a wendigo.
The list goes on and on. Celtic and Norse mythology has ver strong roots in mythological humanoid creatures so dig around in stuff based in those countries.
Watching TV shows like Supernatural, Being Human, The X Files and the like certainly helps with basic knowledge although it is all mythology based so just because they appear one way or are harmed by one thing in Supernatural doesnt mean the same rules apply in Being Human.
Hope this helps, I love mythology and try my best to help out people wanting to know about creatures
Changling Incubus Succubus Elementals Sirens Nereid Sprites Banshee Nemphilim Satyr Elves Cyclops Dziwozona Encantado Any type of fairy Hope these have helped at least a bit of.
