Besides the accent and jouale, how does french from Quebec differ from

France french?

  • There is no difference whatsoever except for the accent and a few minor differences in vocabulary, nothing big.

Quebec French SLANG is quite another story, and that's what most Quebecers will speak among themselves.

  • I am from Quebec but living in Alberta for 15 years. The prejudices that you said that France is more refined is wrong. Every society and languages are continuously evolving as is the your language. Do you believe that the english from U.K. is more refined than the one of Canada or Australia? The prejudices come from the fact that we have been colonies of those invaders (France, U.K., Spain, Portugal, Germany and Italy). It is normal to feel that those countries should be the leaders when it comes to the right languages but they evolved and took many different directions. There are thousands of slang in France. Slang isn't refined but is mostly used in all discussions. Even the Quebecers are thinking that they are superior to the others French across Canada. Somewhat it is true. The French Albertans aren't able to speak in french without using tons of english words and expressions. The real French (from France) are as well influenced by the others languages beside theirs.

  • There isn't much difference. It's like English in Canada and English in England. Same language just a few different words that makes it unique to the region

  • There isn't really much of a difference, just a few alternative words. Like petit dejeuner and dejeuner are lunch and dinner in France (or something like that :) There aren't many, most you just pick up with experience

  • Quebec french is more slang and more relaxed, whereas france french is more formal

  • Well, as jouale is slang, and you've already given that, and the accent is different - what is left?

  • They are not that different just a few words aren't the same.
