USB cable as power to modem?
I'm trying to power on my modem through my laptops usb point. Is there an option to do such things. If yes is there an adapter or a jack for the same. It seems difficult at times of power failure to be connected.

It don't think that's a good idea. You could fry your USB controller. Besides, USB ports can only supply 5 volts DC and I believe there is a limit on the amount of current drawn of 100mA. Chances are your modem requires 12v and 1000mA power supply.
