How far do sport bikes ride in a day?
I live in Texas and work on short term ( 6 mo. to 1 year) projects all over the US. I also ride my Road King to every state I work in and back home. I average about 15K a year on my bike. I love long rides on back roads. In places like The Tail of the Dragon I see all the sport bikes in one place. Will a sport bike rider ride 500, 700 or 1000 miles in one day? How far have you rode in 24hr?
Update:Wow…. I had no idea sport bike rider put that many miles at one time. I ride a touring bike with a back rest. I have only gone 890 miles in 17 hours. That’s doing 80 mph with stops at 160 mills apart. I was going for 1000 in 24hr but became sleepy and could not hold my eyes open. So I pulled over and slept.
I was just inquiring for my own curiosity.
My hat is off to anyone that puts 1000 miles in one day.

sure, it depends on what is on the other side.... I rode my gsxr 1100 in japan 700 miles in one day....
when I first got that bike i put 3500 on it the first 7 days. I had it for 2 years and put 38000 miles on it. (and japans gas was 5 dollars a gallon then)
I recently came back from tail of the dragon.... from florida, but we towed the bikes there. but we did about 400 miles a day for a week. I was in daytona this year too. and almost ALL the harley riders I saw (and others) towed the bikes in. I'm from the tampa area now and didn't see too many bikers this year riding over.
I guess it's all a personal choice. (and what's on the other side)
good riding......
My longest ride was 1100 miles in one day on a Kawasaki Ninja, my tail end was rather sore at the end of that day. I have made a lot of other rides of 700 and even 900 in one day, but that 1100 was brutal. I stopped about every hour for a walk around.
This was on a 1990 ninja 600r, the seat does not exactly have a lot of foam on it. a lot of other sport bikes are more comfortable.
A "good long drive" for me on that bike was about 300 tops. Of course on a ninja in Germany at that time, that ride could have been under 3 hours easily, maybe even under 2. <laugh> So it could also be relative. The 1100 mile one though was WA to CA on I-5. Ouch.
it is a stable low-fee bike. youthful and fit is stable. It makes it much less complicated to comply with the bent legs and the stress on your wrists that the Ninja will impose on you. One good advice is to purchase some stable ear plugs. they gained't basically save your listening to yet will shrink fatigue. verify you purchase a helmet that suits properly so as which you will discover the line as you're leaning forward. yet another advice is to take a diverse course each and every time you pass and return. you will locate some thrilling roads particularly of having caught on an interstate with each and all the site visitors and massive autos. A 250 isn't appropriate for throughway site visitors, their gentle-weight facilitates them to get buffeted badly via the autos. verify to take a driving classification in case you haven't any longer. I advise you study a e book titled 'entire administration intense overall performance highway driving concepts' via Lee Parks. It has a wealth of concepts which will upload to the common of the adventure besides as permit you recognize of the fundamentals of driving smartly and competently. you have the staggering studying concepts-set getting in as evidenced via your query. experience properly and characteristic relaxing.
