Why do my disc brakes squeal?
I have a 2010 Trek 6000 that i bought brand new about a 3 weeks ago. So far I am happy with it except the fact that my front wheel mechanical disc brakes squeal. Sometimes it does it on its own but if i try to feather the brake and have it pulled in half way it squeals a lot worse. Are the pads to close to the rotor or what?

Sometimes this happens if you store the bike in an area that has a lot of temp change or moisture buildup. Like the other poster said try cleaning and see if that helps.
Clean the rotor with brake cleaner and sand the pads lightly. If it doesn't squeal when you are not applying the brakes the pads are not too close.
