How do you upload videos from a video camera to your comp?

Let's see, this is already year 2010... and this video camera I'm talking about was way back from 2001. so yes, this uses tape. I was wondering how you put the videos from the tape to the computer? as in no charge at all?? And I was wondering if you could cut the video shorter too on the computer.

Please cut me some slack. Lol.

Update:

Sorry, I don't get what you're all saying :( I'm 11...

  • no charge i don't know.

But you can get a cheap device (about $20 or $30) that connects in USB to your computer and takes a video composite and audio out from your camcorder.

This one at amazon is sold at $10 : http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Video-Capture-Adapter-...

Then use windows Media encoder (free download from microsoft.com) and you should be set.

The only other free way is if you have a webcam, play the tape to your tv and put the webcam in front of the tv. The quality will be a lot worse though.

  • if it records onto tapes you have a problem... you can use a cable to connect your camera to the TV

from there you can play the video and record it onto a DVD, then you can put the DVD in the computer and then rip the DVD and edit from there.

However new camcorders record onto a hard drive / memory so it can be directly and easily transferred to the computer

sorry its not an easy fix, however you may be able to buy a USB gadget which would allow you to record your videos onto the computer however it would take looking into and i dont know the type of your tape,

this is for a standard cassette but you may be able to find the exact one for you, unless you use a cassette tape (then im awsome) also you may be able to find cheaper ones this was just a first result

  • in case you provide the variety extensive type we are able to seem up the ports. without that archives, what you wrote so a strategies exhibits you have an analog video camcorder, no digital out, so which you want a Video Digitizer together with Dazzle DVD Converter ($50 to $250 counting on high quality of video enter) as quickly as you got it into the laptop, you are able to then convert / resize into ideal format for importing.

  • Is it an analog camcorder (VHS) or a minidv camcorder?

Please post the model # of your camcorder.

If it's minidv, you will need a firewire cord and your pc will need a firewire card, both will cost you money.

If it's an analog camcorder you will need an analog converter, this will also cost you money.

  • Lol dont worry,

If you a USB cord, attach it from phone to USB port...then on phone choose file transfer....then on the screen an option will come up what you want to transfer...scroll to bottom to open files, click on videos and drag and drag it into your documents.

    Hope that helped! Jon
