JVC Car Audio Reset Codes?

I have a JVC KD-SH55 head unit, and aJVC KD-MK77 CD changer. I'm getting a reset code 9 on the head unit. The manual has reset code 8 (check wiring), and reset code 1 thru 7 (reset changer), but no code 9. I've emailed JVC and their only answer is send the changer in for service. I do some electronic work and just need to know what needs to be reset.

  • those codes mean send it in for repair

  • JVC makes some good and some bad products, I've years of experience in car audio and I've done tons of research and testing, I can honestly say some JVC radios are great, I just bought a JVC radio that gives me 20x4 wattsRMS power for $100, it had the same customer ratings as a $140 Pioneer radio which is only rated at 14x4 watts RMS, I'm not saying Pioneer is bad, I have 2 Pioneer Chanmpion series subwoofers which were rated number 1 at their price, I'm powering them with a Hifonics GLX1400.1D which is CEA certiied What Im trying to say, brand does not really matter, what matters is getting the best product for your money and that changes all the time, so do your homework

  • Contact a reliable car audio sales and installation shop in your local area and see what info they might have for you. They install the equipment and will have error reset info that the general public won't get. If that still fails you, research for the number of the closest JVC authorized repair center and talk to them. If your truely in electronics, your more likely to be able to get them to give you a quick tip to solve it than a regular person.
