Travel system carseats?

Hi

I am looking for recommendations on convertible carseat/strollers (travel systems - where the carseat is detachable from the base). My son weighs 22lbs now .. I would like to buy to that converts to front facing when the time comes and can be used for quite some time. Thanks!

  • 1, there is NO car seat that fits in a stroller at this age. Baby/toddler can sit just fine in a stroller.

#2, kids stay rear facing to the seat limits on the convertible, or to at the minimum of age 2. Weight does not factor in when tuning forward.

#3, look for a good convertible like the True Fit or the Evenflo Triumph 65. Both will keep your lil one harnessed for a long time, both have harness slots that are about 17 inches meaning that your child will stay harnessed longer and you will get better value out of the seat. We also have the Sunshine Kids Radians (now called Diono). The new Diono seat starts at about $200 but is a steel frame and has a 10 year 'shelf life' and converts to a booster after they child hits about 54 inches tall. This would be THE last seat your child needs.

  • Bobbi gave great info, but I would like to add to the booster info on the Diono she gave you.

The different models have differently shaped belt guides for boosters, there is a 50 pound minimum for the boosters and the guides for the booster portion is hard to reach. The booster mode is outgrown around the same time the harness is outgrown- so don't count on this being the last car seat you will ever need. You likely would need to purchase a separate booster seat.

  • Walmart carries a lot of different types of conversion car seats and stroller sets, I have bought all of mine there for all three of my children. I hope that you find what you are looking for!

  • avoid it -invest in a car seat that grows with the child (0-80 pounds). have the pros at the local fire station or ambulance service help you choose one that fits your budget & be sure to have them show you how to safely install it.
