  • all of them do give problems, but the dodge isn't as bad as some of the others are for giving problems, the engines wasn't that bad it was the steering parts that wore out prematurely in a lot of them, ball joints and tie rod ends gave more problems than the engines did, good luck.i owned an 01 ram that had well over two hundred thousand miles on it when i sold it,so their not as bad as people say they are,its just that used vehicles come with little or no warranty and you really cant ever tell how well one was maintained.

  • yes it seems to be, I typed 2002 dodge ram problems recalls? in the websearch box, and there were quite a number of engine failures due to sludge in the engine, some, well before 100,000 And as yet there is no factory recall, they refuse to honor warranty blaming customer for the sludge problems, even though shop records prove otherwise. Older dodges used to be tough old trucks too, what a shame, going to a smaller untested engine, that did not have the right parts to hold up to normal use is not good. Even buying a used engine did not always help, sometimes the new/used engine developed problems shortly after installation, this is going to bite dodge in the butt. But I guess thats life.

  • lots of cars hit problems after 100k miles. BUT if you maintain it well, buy good parts, dont skimp on anything, it will go farrrrrrrr. gotta love your truck!

I had a friend that had one for 200k + and ran like a gem......until he crashed it but thats unrelated.

  • At 100,000 all cars need, timing belt, tires, brakes, shocks, battery, ETC. It just goes that way.
