How do you change a color?

I am making a custom skin for the gloves in Counter-Strike: Source, and I am using Paint.NET for it. I have the skin almost done, the only thing left that I want to do is change the color of the gloves on the arms. They are, by default, black, but I want to change the color to white. I also don't want them to be completely white (what I mean is that I want the texture of the glove still there, just white instead of black). How would I go about doing this in Paint.NET?
