Does Tom Brady deserve MVP?

Now statistically it should go to Peyton Manning without a doubt. But its the most VALUABLE player award, not the BEST player. Brady put up good numbers with Edelman, an average player, as his only reliable player. Gronk played.like 3 games. Amendola missed a few games too. As far as a running game, the Patriots didn't have much of that either. Ridley fumbled a lot and Blount didn't show up until real late in the season. The defense started out well but after missing key players they struggled after the first 5 games. They were also TERRIBLE when it came to stopping rushing plays and the secondary was inconsistent. Lets also not forgot about the all the comebacks Brady led them on. Think about it this way:

If you put an average quarterback on Peyton's team the team could still win 10 games with Eric Decker, Demaryius Thomas, and Wes Welker to throw to.

If you put that average passer on the the 2013 Patriots there's no way they could've won 12 games or even make the playoffs.

Update:

Can someone put up a legit argument?

  • And how many games would Denver have won without Manning? Suppose his replacement had led the team to 10 wins, which is probably unrealistic considering the team won eight games in 2011? That would have put them a game behind Kansas City and they would have played the entire postseason on the road.

It's highly doubtful Denver would have made the Super Bowl.

Manning set records for touchdown passes and passing yardage in a season, and he completed 68% of his passes. Anyone who says he isn't a lock for MVP is delusional.

  • Switch the names to 2010 when Brady was unanimous, and Manning led the Colts to 10-6 with Reggie Wayne (terrific by the way) as his only reliable weapon. This was the same team that went 2-14 without him.

It's a similar situation, those Patriots were loaded but Brady deserved more than anyone else. The Broncos this season were loaded but Manning deserves it.

How did Austin Collie do for the Patriots this year?

  • I can see where you're coming from on the naming of the award but the award is given to the BEST player, not the guy who is most valuable to his team. This year, Manning had a better season than Brady and perhaps a better season than any QB in history.

  • Peyton Manning got MVP

  • Peyton Manning sucks.

  • No, Manning was much better yesterday.

  • No. Peyton proved his dominance over that washed-up has-been.
