Turbo charging a Dodge dakota 2?

hey I got a 2001 Dodge Dakota V6 2WD

can i put a turbo or supercharger on it to get a little more horses

I was looking at a site called ststurbo.com

and they have a universal turbo kit and twin turbo kit

would I be able to put it on my Dakota

I got the V6 for the MPG will a turbo or super destroy it?

Original questian was above

let me clear up the questian about mpg

I know that I won't get good mpg in the city because with the turbo of course I'm gonna be useing it

the real questian I have is that I like to travel a lot and I use this truck to do it

so will a turbo effect the HW mpg when I'm in OD just chillen at 70

  • We installed an STS Turbo on my brothers LS1 Trans Am a couple years ago and I will tell you it made the difference of night and day with the car.... It was awesome!

Car went from 320 horse stock to 417 on a dyno with the Squires at 5psi boost.

Just know your stock motor's limits and don't do what my brother did....

I told him to not push it past 5psi of boost on the stock motor but he kept messing with it getting it up to 8psi and on that last run he shattered a piston....

Stock motors can handle a good amount of boost however they have limits so if you decide to go with the Squires...do your homework so you don't over-boost it.

    Good luck

  • Most turbos and super chargers need to have low compression as the boost gets quite high.Inter cooler or after cooler.Exhaust modification and very expansive like more than your truck is worth. Might want to look into a programmer that will give U around 30 to 50 hp.
