Is diet pop a no-no during pregnancy?

Just wondering. I read someone saying that and now I'm curious. Thanks.

Update:

Yeah, I haven't been drinking it often. I've had maybe two can and I'm five weeks. But it's normally coke zero. I have mostly been drinking sugar-less flavored water, water and powerade zero which has no sugar too.

  • There is no real research that definitely without a doubt proves that soda (diet or regular) is going to cause irreparable harm to your unborn baby. Yes, there are studies that show aspartame may not be the best thing. Yes, there are studies which show you should limit your caffeine intake. But an occasional soda isn't likely to hurt you or the baby.

Obviously, water is the best choice when it comes to beverages. It's more hydrating, doesn't contain sodium (soda does), doesn't contain caffeine, doesn't contain anything but natural water, which is best for baby and best for you.

  • Drink the Diet Soda with Splenda

  • No, it isn't a no-no.

It isn't any worse than regular pop.

    It should be limited though.

Mostly because, being pregnant means you can dehydrate rather easily.

You need to drink a fair amount of water, throughout the day.

As anything with pregnancy, moderation is key.

  • Definetly not. I used to think so too, but when i was pregnant with my first child, i asked my doctor about this, because i am a big diet pop drinker. i love it. and he told me that diet pop is perfectly fine during pregnancy. He said it will not hurt the baby. I drank diet soda through out both of my pregnancies and have two very healthy children. There a lot of very health conscious people out there, that are paranoid about every thing during pregnancy. people will tell you not to do a lot of things, that don't really hurt. so don't worry. you can drink the diet soda if you want.

  • The handiest factor I might be involved approximately is the factitious sweeteners in nutrition beverages. Check the labels, however I consider caffeiene unfastened might honestly be bigger, in view that they do not use aspartame. You will have to prohibit your consumption of matters like that, anyhow, although. If it makes you believe bigger, I drank close to not anything however Pepsi while I used to be pregnant with my son (I am NOT suggesting that you just do that), and he used to be now not affected in any respect. I did not have morning illness with him- I had 24/7 illness, and the medical professional advised me that if that calmed my belly, drink it, so I did. You will have to be simply nice. Those are hard little men/women in there, I am a company believer in that.

  • Well any dark pop is not good for u period much less a growing fetus. It won't really harm the baby, but it is still not healthy. If you do drink it just don't drink to much.

  • Yes the aspertame in it can harm the baby

Diet rite doesn't have aspertam though
