Can a virus damage a video card?

My laptop had a virus which my friend said she will remove. She then did god knows what and it now crashes everytime I turn it on. She said that whilst she was removing the virus, the virus damaged the video card but she ended up removing the virus.

Is this possible?

  • No. But it can damage the driver. But the driver could be replaced.

  • But it's certainly possible for one to effect the OS in a way that your video would do some strange things. I suppose even mess up the video driver. My guess would be that the Video card or the driver had indeed gone bad and the Trojan is another matter that you dealt with.

  • The virus can injury video card documents, documents used to apply the video card and stuff. If the video card replaced into broken, you will possibly have undesirable photographs on your pc. Describe the crash?

  • No, the video card itself could not get damaged by a virus.
