How to print text onto a remittance envelope?

So as part of a fundraiser for an organization I'm in, I want to send remittance envelopes, but I'm hesitant to order custom made ones, and instead, I'm thinking about buying a set of remittance envelopes and printing the text onto them myself. Would that be possible, or is a special type of printer required (I have a basic home printer, nothing fancy)? Or could I just print the text and glue it onto the envelope...any ideas or answers would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
