Bible-fundamentalists, do you dismiss any Catholic ritual as a pagan ritual?

without actually studying what their ritual really means to them?

Update:

CJ, oh really now?

Mayrsia, I am not new at all. I seem to have just noticed him or her just now.

  • you must be new.... CJ (aka CHris) is the biggest Catholic hater I've seen in a long time. he knows NOTHING about the faith except that which he gets from anti catholic sites which are lies.

it's sad that he, who claims to be such a good Christian, lies and lies and lies.

  • CJ, (Chris) is the Sola Scriptura dude, he hates Catholics and says that Catholicism leads to hell.

But he also believes that you can be "saved" at the age of 10 or 12 and then lead a long life in sin, pain, breaking commandments, not repent, hurt everyone, and go straight to heaven at death.

So, it is up to you how much credibility you want to put in his answers.

I am continuing to pray for him.

    Peace and God Bless!

  • I "dismiss" it as ritual, and as such it may have personal or historical meaning, but does not directly affect one''s relationship with God.

But I DO NOT dismiss the rituals as "pagan". Those rituals have definite religious and spiritual mean to the Catholic. While I often understand the meaning, and in some cases actually appreciate, enjoy, and have sometimes participated in the ritual, I simply don't agree with it in the context of it affecting my relationship with God.

Salvation comes through faith alone, and that faith in Christ Jesus, not through ritual.

  • To me, that would be ridiculous to consider. We all have the right to worship how we feel in our hearts. Far be it from me to find something 'wrong' with another's belief system. Otherwise, I wouldn't have a right to my own.

  • some bible-fundamentalists ARE Catholic you know.

And CJ is the most annoying yahoo user on R & S with his copy and paste answers and fanaticism, just thought I'd point that out.

  • CJ hates Catholics and hates reading his Bible.

Nobody pays attention to him except those who wish to sustain and validate an ignorant viewpoint.

  • Their understanding of theology is tainted by their hatred for Christ's Church in favor of their man-made doctrines and churches. They are secular humanists gone to the extreme by rejecting the things of God for their own desires. Naturally they hate anyone or anything that is not of their own benefit and creation. They create the God that serves them instead of humbling themselves to serve the one true God. So sad!

    In Christ

    Fr. Joseph

  • I dismiss all rituals in general.

    =P

  • No not at all.

I am a bible fundy who used to be catholic and I see the biblical motivation for each. Some are just done wrong IMHO

  • Be prepared for a lot of lies defending their bigotry.
