my dog is pooping a jello like consistency?

so i just got this puppy 2 days ago. hes 10 weeks. hes a beagle. every time he poops its like jelly or something, and im not sure if it was vomit or poop but it was the same texture with long noodle like looking things. the previous owners did say he needs his shots and needs to be de-wormed.. possibly is that the problem? and also he has fleas. but he's been washed with flea shampoo and will be washed twice a week. i have NO idea what the pre-owners were feeding him so maybe its the food change? please help! ive spent 50 buck already on carpet cleaner! any tips?

  • Take this little one to your vet in the morning. Yep, it sounds like roundworms. Your puppy will need a stool check, so if you have a fresh sample in the morning, take it with you. Take a little baggie, and turn it wrong side out over your hand. Pick up the poop, and then turn the bag rightside out and seal it. If you can't get a sample, they can.

Diarrhea can also be caused from food changes. They can give you meds to stop that within a few hours.

Anytime you get a new pet, the first stop needs to be your vet's office. See? They probably could've saved you the money you had to spend on carpet! At least they would've told you to keep the pup in a crate until the diarrhea stopped.

You don't need to bathe him twice a week. Bathing, even with flea shampoo, won't get rid of the fleas. Your vet also would've given you something (capstar) that would've killed the fleas within minutes.

So tomorrow to the vet you go. Exam, first shots, stool check, deworming, flea and heartworm meds.

Roundworms, by the way, is transmissible to humans. You would have to actually ingest stool to get them, though. Good hand-washing for the whole family is necessary. If you have other pets, they need to be on monthly flea and heartworm prevention, as well. Wash your new dog's bedding. Ask your vet for capstar or Trifexis is your dog is old enough.

  • VET ASAP, deworming and let them know tape worms (normal deworming does not include tape worms) Ask the vet for a safe flea treatment for a puppy (NO TWO BATHS A WEEK, it will dry the skin to the point you will have other issues) It could be a change in food, the worms or nerves. Get to the vet and get shots and dewormed ASAP, like this week. (tape worms steal the nutrition from the food a dog eat). The fleas are the source of the tape worms, so worm and use monthly flea treatments. to control fleas.

  • Stop feeding it jello and take it to the vet!
