i think polka dots are making a comeback but stripes are always in but it depends on the width, length and how the stripes or polka dots are used in fashion..
Stripes- never horizontal or vertical, but diagonal if it's a dress, and maybe horizontal on a cute top. But honestly I try to stay away from them. Polka dots- I absolutely despise.
Stripes if you are thin- big girls dont look good in Horizontal stripes- makes them look funny. They can wera stripes if they are at a slant downwards. Polkas dots were ok when i went to high school, but not now (unlees on undergarments)
Polka dots. Love them . strips are ok if you wear them going in the right direction. if they are up and down it makes you look slimmer. Wearing them in the other direction will make you look heavier. But I love polka dots.

stripes are it right now. i like black/white or grey/white horizontals. polka dots are cute on some things, but stripes are really nice
