Do BTEC's count as GCSE?
I need 4 c-a* GCSE's for my course.
I've got my English Language GCSE, my Media GCSE, my Art GCSE. My Health & Social and Science are BTECs though, and my teachers say they're both worth 2 GCSE's.
So if I passed with these BTEC's, would that mean I got 7 c-a* GCSE's?
Update:I'm doing a Level 3 Diploma in College.

Btec qualification is not equal to gcse. btec is lower qualification than gcse. check aqa website.
Okay ignore everyone.
Btec are equal to two GSCE's like you say.
They are not GSCE's though and some colleges will ask for just GSCE's to go on an A Level course.
However, there are higher BTEC's that will be equivalent to A Levels as well..
The reason they are not considered the same is because the tests and coursework. Therefore if you didn't pass at least 5 GCSE's the college may not put you on a A level course. Which is also has test.
WHY? Because your simply not going to be good at the module tests which are so much harder if your one of these people that work better doing coursework.
Saying that its entirely up to your applying college to decide.
If you tried to do biology, chemistry or physics A Level you are probably going to get told no. But a diploma is more likely.
No. The deputy head at my school clearly stated last week that BTECs do not count as any GCSEs at all because they are their own qualification. They are simply a BTEC (an easier version of a GCSE and all coursework based) not a GCSE.
However, the college might let you onto the course with only 3 A*-C GCSEs and 2 BTECs.
Yes, it would...but you need to be aware that some sixth forms don't count them for the purpose of A level selection, because they simply don't cover what's required for you to cope with an A level course. Science is the most common one.
Also best check whether they require maths as one of the 4.
