Why does the New Testament portray Jesus as violent?

Comments

  • It doesn't dear, yet the website you referred us to does.

  • They need to read the Torah! When certain dogs of satan started committing fornication with the whores of midianites then one man took a spear and killed them both in a tent! That was commended by Moses and God. Now, they accuse Jesus of injustice for driving thieving money changers from the temple of God. That really is disgusting.

As for the pigs, they were unclean animals at that time! The people of that region should not have been eating them! Of course He let the devil's destroy them.

And He cursed the tree to make a spiritual point. It wasn't for no reason.

  • The only time he was supposedly violent was when he chased the money changers and sellers out of the temple where they did NOT belong. By the way, the way you wrote your question sounds like he was in the old testament as well. And the BIBLE is a CHRISTIAN book, even though the OT is made up of many of the Jewish beliefs, traditions, stories and laws. The NT is about the PUBLIC life of Jesus as told by his apostles.

  • Dear Friend,

God is a Triune God. The word Trinity is defined in the dictionary as:

    1. The Christian Godhead as one God in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

    2. A group of three spiritual Persons

God is a Triune God: Three spiritual Persons in One.

The Trinity consists of: God, the Father (Jehovah). God the Son, Jesus (Lord and Savior). And God the Holy Spirit (all Power).

Having said that God is Spirit. However He did clothe Himself as sinless Man (Jesus). God is both a God of love and a God of wrath. But not like our "carnal"... selfish pride. God's love and wrath are "spiritual." They consist of "righteous anger and righteous love. When Jesus turned over the money changers it was righteous anger. What was is to be set apart as HOLY, because God is Holy and we are 'never' to enter or treat His House, as ...casual or carelessly. We are to enter His House as though we are entering the Holy of Holies. Think about that.

Funny how people are so quick to portray God/Jesus as violent, yet they don't look at themselves in the mirror. Man's violence is self-centered. God's is Holy, Righteous and Just. He is our Creator and He doesn't have to consult with His finite creatures as to why He does what He does.

    Blessings,
