PLPD/No Fault Insurance?

Hi! I have no fault insurance on one of my older vehicles...I live in MI and we are a "no fault" state.

But what happens if my car is totalled in an accident that I am not at fault for? Do I get anything or no since I'm not carrying comp or collision?

  • First answer is wrong.

The most you can recover is $1000, under MI law. So if your car is worth more than that, consider getting collision coverage.

  • "No fault" means that your car insurance is your primary medical insurance in the event of a car related injury regardless of fault. If your vehicle is totaled by someone else that has insurance it would be fixed under his Property damage portion of the policy.
