Algebra Algebra?

1.Write a proportion for the following problem. Use x as the variable. When you type it in, leave no spaces, like this example: 3/4=x/5.

Marge drove 348 miles in 4.5 hours. At that rate, how many miles could she drive in 10 hours?

2. Answer problem 1.

3. 3/4=21/2+d

4. 16/17=x/40

5. Which ratio is equal to 5/6?

15/16

25/36

  • Hi,

    1.Write a proportion for the following problem. Use x as the variable. When you type it in, leave no spaces, like this example: 3/4=x/5.

    Marge drove 348 miles in 4.5 hours. At that rate, how many miles could she drive in 10 hours?

    348/4.5=x/10

    2. Answer problem 1.

    4.5x = 3480

    x = 773⅓

    3. 3/4=21/2+d

    Multiply each term by 4 to eliminate fractions. Then solve.

    3 = 42 + 4d

    -39 = 4d

    -39/4 = d

    4. 16/17=x/40

    17x = 16(40)

    17x = 640

    x = 640/17

    5. Which ratio is equal to 5/6?

    15/16

    25/36

    30/36 = 5/6

    60/70

    I hope those help!! :-)

  • 1)

    2)348/4.5=x/10 x=773.333

    3)-39/4=d/1

    4)30/36 => factor out 6

  • 1) 10(348/4.5)

    = 773.3 miles

    3) d = 4(21/3)-2

    d = 28-2

    d = 26

    4) x = 16(40/17)

    x=37.6

    5) 30/36

  • 348/4.5=x/10

    x = 348*10/4.5 = 773.3

    3/4=21/2+d

    2+d=28

    d=26

    16/17=x/40

    x=37.6

    30/36
