Why do shampoos taste bitter?

Comments

  • Probably because they aren't meant to be consumed. Most shampoos have Bionine Zioxide in it, which is an ingredient that will burn your intestines and poison your digestive system and weaken the immune system.

  • Shampoos and soaps have have high pH, of which a bitter taste is characteristic. Southerners know the taste of bitter vegetables like greens can be improved by adding a little vinegar (acetic acid) to neutralize the strongly basic chemicals they contain.

  • Partly by design, I'd wager.

They probably taste bad on purpose, because otherwise, some moron would drink a whole bunch of it, would get really sick, and would actually turn around and sue them. (Yes, despite the label that says: Do not drink)

  • Because shampoo is made for washing your hair. Not for drinking.

  • They have to be slightly caustic to dissolve grease and oil, that's why you use a conditioner afterwards to neutralise the affect of the shampoo.

  • A delicious bottle of shampoo would often be empty.

  • Since their purpose is to wash hair, why would anyone taste them? That's as ridiculous as making them palatable, but ineffective for washing hair.

  • Same reason other things that we shouldn't taste... are bitter.

    Soap is the same way.

  • that is God's punishment on man for touching themselves at night

  • the better question is why are you drinking shampoo?
