Has anybody out there had a class in abstract algebra? It is one of the options I have for next semester in grad school math. What is the class like? Is it one of the more difficult courses?
This is one of the most difficult couse. You need to spend more time to understand the principle and you really need good concept in Algebra to understand the lecture
I havent gone to grad school, but i took this class my junior year of undergrad, and im so glad i did. It was my first hard, proof based, lots of theory math class. it's hard, but it has really cool applications to coding theory.

It is hard. I did not find it very helpful because it does not apply to much outside of the math world, i.e. engineering.
