PCI Express speed problems?
Hi. I have a question about the whole PCI Express thing. The new GTX 780Ti supports a PCI Express 3.0 16x interface. The GPU also has a memory bandwidth of 336GB/s, as seen here: http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/gefor... How could that possibly be, if the PCI Express 3.0 16x port only allows the bandwidth of 15.75GB/s, as seen here on the right: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PCI_Express? Am I missing something?
Also, I would like to ask, what is the maximum bandwidth for a PCI Express 16x 3.0 and 2.0? If I were to plug in a GPU like GTX 780Ti into a PCI Express 2.0 16x, would I bottleneck the GPU by that connection? If yes, by how much? Thanks!
Update:Sinbad just expained to me, that the CPU couldn't have the PCI Express 3.0. Ignore the specs. Thanks again!

PCI - Xpress 3.0 is 985 MB/s per lane. 2x what 2.0 is.
Would you bottleneck a 780 w/ 2.0 = YES
how much ? depends, but I would say it would be substantial
As far as the bandwidth interface of PCI-Xpress 3.0 v memory bandwidth of card - there are a couple thing you need to consider:
1.) None of this matters in real world performance, there are so many other factors to be considered.
2.) A system is only as fast as the slowest part
The CPU has nothing to do with PCIe 3.0, the chipset does. If the chipset supports it, it will work.
