  • A router is the easiest way and zero config.

Otherwise, you need at least 2 kinds of network connections on your PC. For example, LAN and WiFi. Then you can access the internet on that computer through one connection, and share it through the other.

There is a wizard in all versions of windows to do this. Google "windows internet connection sharing" for a full guide.

  • Simple networking, networking is a protocol, TCP/IP is the most common Network protocol.

To set up a home network, which is what this sounds like, is really rather easy.

On Windows allow Network Shares and a few other things, there are or can be alot of problems with this as you did not state what OS, version or if you are WiFi or Hardline only.

Yes it can be done, it is simple on *NIX boxes, is a few more hoops on a Windows box, but can work.

Also look up, LAN and Home LAN.

You can always just use a HUB, is simple to buy, cheap and usually will work.

  • yes it can be done, but one PC, must act as a server.

If you have a usb ADSL modem connected to one of the PC's then that PC must be the server. You will need to connect both PC's with an Ethernet cross over cable (Must be a crossover cable because you do not have a router)

You need then to turn on ICS (Internet connection sharing).

You do not say what OS's you are using, but I'm going to assume XP, so take a look here for more details.

If you are not using XP, do a search for Internet Connection Sharing relevant to your OS.

  • It can be done, but it is a pain in the a**.

It is way so much easier to just buy a ROUTER, and both can connect.

It isn't brain surgery, it is very simple stuff and they give you step by step instructions.

  • Ya, may be you can do what you looking for, by connecting your two computers with one ethernet cable. And connect one computer to the internet (by modem).

    Hope its of any help!

  • it's called bridging connections here's the Google search for it http://www.google.com/search?q=bridge+connections&... also you will need a cross over cable witch is like an Ethernet cable but wired diff.

  • Bridging will not work, since you have no LAN to bridge to. But ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) will work.

  • Never seen it done with out a router (rotor)
