Sodium atom facts please?

What are some facts about a sodium atom. How many protons, electrons and nuetrons does it have. Also is it's nuclease different to other nucleases

  • Very Stupid question. Periodic table will reveal all this just go and study it.

  • Have you tried looking at the periodic table? Its atomic number is 11, which means it has 11 protons (which means an uncharged atom will also have 11 electrons). It is an alkali metal. It has a single electron in its outer shell and has the electron configuration 3s1. It has a tendency to form Na+ ions, so it bonds well with halides. If you want to know more, go to Wikipedia and scroll down the right side of the page.

  • Sodium is a volatile metal cation which has an atomic number of 11, meaning there are 11 protons in the nucleus. It also has an electromagnetic charge of +1 meaning there is one less electron in the atom to counteract the positive charge of the protons (meaning there are 10 electrons normally).

Many of its salts are very soluble and have many domestic uses.

  • An Na atom has an atomic number of 11, meaning that it has 11 protons. It has 11 electrons and 12 neutrons (atomic mass-atomic number = number of neutrons).

  • Doesn't your science book answer all this? 30 seconds staring at the periodic table will answer everything you asked.
