My windows xp has no audio!!!?

my nephew was listening 2 music with headphones plugged in and than he fell back and broke the metal part of the cord. we got it out but there is still no audio on my computer at all except for a buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz and thats it HELP!!!!!

  • Sounds like a hardware issue...yup!! The force from falling back, tension from the attached audio jack cord may have dislodged the audio sound card chip inside the PC. That's what you want it to be...and pray the sound card itself---or any other PC components---aren't damaged.

    It's risky and NOT advisable for you or anyone at home to open up the PC case and check this issue; too much can go wrong--risking one's life and further PC damage.

    You might want to contact the "tech support" folks who represent the name brand of the PC; could be covered under warranty. If the warranty is expired, your best and safest option is to take the PC to a reputable PC repair shop---and hope for the best.

  • One of three things could have happened,

    1. when it broke off it torqued enough on the audio jack that the contacts inside bent and are no longer making contact (easy fix for a repair guru).

    2. When it broke it torqued the jack enough to break it free from the main board (a little harder to fix but still hope).

    3. When it broke it torqued the jack so badly it broke the main board itself (bad news... the main board would probably need to be replaced).
