is hooah branch specific?

is hooah a specific branch chant/grunt or can it be used for all military branches, and is it appropriate for females to say it?

  • everyone above is right except only Marines say oooraahh, the Navy say hooyaah, most of the time we let the corpsman say oooraaah unless he likes the BAS a little too much.

  • Hooah is from the Army meaning anything and everything except "no." Everybranch is different the marines and navy are oorah. Not sure about the air force though.

    Yea sure its appropriate for females to say it as long as you have pride when its said.

  • Yes, except Hooah is army specific ie. Nat'l Guard, Army, and Reserves. Women can say it.

  • Army specific. Of course women say it... all you see is uniformed individuals with no regards to color, ethnicity, and gender. Airforce uses HUA... heard understood acknowledged. And if you ever see an AF cop... just say "Highspeed" haha.
