Does anyone know if an apartment search engine for Canada? (i.e. Apartmentguide.com or Rent.com)
The site Craiglist.org has pretyy good adds. Reasonable prices always. Just click on the link and then go to Housing. -> apts / housing

They are not search engines, but they are free websites.
Also check http://www.craigslist.org/ --> choose city of interest to you (anywhere in Canada).
