Let s = number of 6-cent stamps and f = number of 15-cent stamps
f = 4s
0.06s + 0.15f = 0.06s + 0.15(4s) = 0.66s = 165
s = 165/0.66 = 250 6-cent stamps
f = 4s = 1000 15-cent stamps
Check: 1000*$0.15 + 250*$0.06 = $165
Let the number of $0.06 stamps be x
Since it is a quarter of the number of $0.15 stamps,there are 4x of $0.15 stamps.
Total value is $165 =0.15*4x +0.06x =0.66x
x =165/0.66 = 250
Let The number of $0.06 stamps be X and let The number of $0.15 stamps be Y.
X=1/4Y
4X=Y
0.06X+0.15Y=165.00
0.06X+0.60X=165.00
0.66X=165.00
66X=16500
X=250
Therefore,there are 250 $0.06 stamps.
