Playoff system corupt?
Why are a bunch of people whining about the playoffs this year? The NFL knew what they were doing when the put this playoff system in and now everyone wants it changed just for the simple fact that the pats didnt make it or the cards and bolts did when there 8-8. they won their divison thats how they got in so why do people complian about everythin that doesnt go there teams way
Dirty Bird for life
Update:hey gators for your info a dirty bird is a falcon im just curious to why everyone else is complaing personally i think its funny

Exactly! Also any Patriot fan that whines about this and defends the whole cheating philosophy ( from the snowplow incident years ago to the more current Belicheat era ) is a total hypocrite and or moron.
The Patriots have won as many playoff tie breakers over the years then they have lost, probably more.
No, the system is not fine. It is broken. It would be fine if all the best teams made it to the playoffs. This divisional system is broken. Can people not look beyond the constraints set up by the divisions. Have an open mind people! Why accept things the way the are because they are that way? I've noticed so many people using the "division" as the end all be all for playoff teams. Ridiculous! Get rid of the stupid constraints set up by the current system and allow the 12 teams with the best records to make the playoffs. This scenario will be far more interesting and competitive than watching teams that barely made it in because they led their "division" i.e. the Cardinals.
I know the system will not change but I refuse to default to the "divisional leader" as the excuse. I don't agree with it, and if you "the reader" don't agree with me, well then, we agree to disagree.
As a fan of football, I want to see the best teams play each other in the playoffs. I don't want to watch teams that are almost guaranteed to lose in the first round.
I think you nailed it. The reason why so many are complaining about the way the playoff system was instituted is because their team didn't make it in. Sure it was not for seen that the Dolphins would beat the Jets and the Pats would be the one's to bite the dust in the end. However that is just how the game goes. Each team has a responsibility and that is to win games. The Dolphins did their part which was to beat the Jets. They did that and they were in. The Chargers did what they were supposed to do. I don't see a point in whining over something that won't change. As you said, the NFL officials knew what they were doing when they made the playoff system. Every team can't go, only the teams that win, and do their part. So I just ignore the whiners because the better teams win and get in.
Everyone complains about everything anymore. Thats just the way it is. And it isn't going to get any better.
I do think its kind of a bum rap when the pats got left out though.
To me a wildcard position in the playoffs means somebody who didn't win their division, yet has a good chance to accomplish something in the playoffs. I don't think the Chargers nor the Cards have any kind of business playing in the playoffs. They just aren't that good.
Im not saying the system is bogus or needs changed. Im just saying an 11-5 Patriots team has a lot better chance to get to the Super Bowl then an 8-8 Chargers team. However the system is the way it is. Much like College Football that is how they determine their winners. It's not negotiable and whining on forums isn't going to change anyones mind and have it dealt with.
Just a way for people to gripe I suppose. But I will say this. The Patriots have a better chance in the playoffs then the Chargers do and I think everyone who knows anything about the NFL would agree.
Before the wild card system, the only teams that got into the play-offs were the division winners, regardless of their records versus the non-division winners of other divisions. Period. Now, the wild card teams are lucky that they even get to participate in the tournament. If the Pats' fans want their team in the play-offs, they should have won another game.
If someone has a problem with the 8-and-8 Chargers hosting the Colts in the Wild Card game, Indy should have won their division. Then they would either be hosting a game or sitting out on a bye.
The NFL play-off system is fine. This is not the NHL, where there's no real point in even having divisions.
The playoff system is fine, if so and so didn't get in, that's their problem. Teams get screwed every year. The Chargers belong in the playoffs IMO, they are very hot right now and highly underrated. I think they will beat the Colts this weekend. I'm a Bucs fan and as some previous posters said X amount of teams is better than Y because of their records, thats not true. The Bucs are 9-7, but they have no business whatsoever being in the playoffs. The past month they stunk it up at home and on the road.
Its not just the Pats, Look at both conferences
AFC - Jets, Pats, Cowboys, Skins, Bears, bucs and saints have as good or better records than teams in the playoffs.
Pats are the only ones at 11-5 but there are several teams out of the playoffs that are better than teams in the playoffs.
The system is fine. Win your conference games and you don't have this problem. Some teams are in a weaker division. That's just the way it goes sometimes. Life isn't fair. Deal with it. Stop crying.
No the top team in every division of every sport gets in automatically. Why should it be different for football
I agree with you if you don't win it on the field to get into playoffs to bad so sad. every year some team thinks they are getting shafted so who cares.
