Is my teacher a Communist?
Throughout the year, my teacher has always talked about how the Chinese is and will surpass us in everything, especially in education. He hates the American government, both Democrats and Republicans. Also hates liberals and conservatives. He claims that if the Soviet Union never dissolved, they would have easily taken over the U.S. He also bragged the other day about his sweater vest that he claimed was one of Stalin's favorites. And these are only a few things. Students in my class believe he is a Communist, what do you guys think?
P.S. He plans to get a petition to ban lunch from school starting next year.
Update:I appreciate all the quick feedback! I was just curious because I have never had an experience like this with a teacher, let alone anybody, before and his views just seemed to lean toward Communism. Thanks again!

Get your own petition to ban unAmerican remarks in class and to stick to the class subject. He is not communist just bored and tired of teaching. Like all things great and small it too will pass and when it does tell him to give you back your respect for education.
Hehh, looks like you have already decided he is a commi and just want verification. To me, he mostly looks frustrated with our government/s given the situation today.
1. Will the Chinese surpass us in education? Yes and no. In quantity, absolutely yes. In theoratical sciences, engg, medicine etc. sadly China will surpass US. But US will always be better in quality, research and in the levels of communication and creativity.
2. China is progressing because of CAPITALISM - not socialism/communism. It's well known, so supporting china does not make one a communist.
3. If Soviet Union never dissolved they would have won the war on ideas. Just like US apparently did when USSR dissolved.
4. About Stalin's vest. I guess he was just baiting students. Like some others said, maybe he is loony or has personal issues.
5. Banning lunch from school, hmmmm, dunno. Did he say something about school-funded-uniforms? Did he say that he wanted to start a cooperative where there would be equality of labor and returns :-)?
Reminds me of a certain Seinfeld episode..
Your teacher may or may not be a communist. Communism is a failed economic system that cannot function without government oppression.
He is probably correct about China surpassing us in many fields. As for the Soviet Union bit, it dissolved because it failed; it failed because it could never succeed except by military conquest. Thus, he believes that the Soviet Union could and would have conquered us militarily. That would not have occurred excepting with massive nuclear devastation. In that case, they conquered nothing but a nuclear wasteland. Pretty idiotic.
Banning lunch from school sounds nothing short of idiotic.
So, my conclusion is that your teacher may or may not be a communist, but based on what you have said, he is almost certainly an idiot.
It sounds like he's trying to teach you about archaeology. Firstly, when looking for facts about the past it is probably best to keep any religious beliefs out of it. Secondly, looking at the history of the study of archaeology there were plenty of archaeologists who use Marx's theories (modes of production for example) to apply to the study of the past, V. Gordon Childe being one of the more famous. Thirdly, anyone who wants to make money by selling artefacts should not be allowed to be an archaeologist - this is called looting and is illegal in most countries - it is not your property - it belongs to the government of the country in which it is excavated. Now, if you find artefacts on your own property that's different and would depend on the laws where you live, but since you are studying archaeology I presume that you are already aware that without a context, artefacts are worthless. Maybe he is a communist/socialist/atheist, who cares, this is not the 1950s. If you are studying archaeology to back up your own religious beliefs or to get rich quick then it's probably not for you.
Not a communist nor a capitalist, but a complete idiot. In the 80s he probably said Japan would take over America. In the 90s he would have been afraid of India. Now its China. China taking over would be neat trick given that their one-child policy means that every working Chionese will be caring for two aging parents soon.
Some people (see: idiots) need to be afraid of something to make their boring lives more interesting.
Your teacher sounds like a loon. I'm a liberal but this guy is taking it way too far. It also sounds like your teacher is confused about his history. China has a ton of problems to face. I'm not convinced they will pass it in everything. And the Soviets had no business being a superpower. With the way their leaders were running the country it was only a matter of time till they collapsed.
What do I think? I think you are a troll, and not a very smart one at that. Just why would a Communist want ban lunch from school? Here's a hint. If you want to troll, at least have some sort of grasp on what you are trolling about.
You should have taped his lectures, last I heard it is not illegal to tape a professor's lecture, then sold the tape to Fox Cable News. Be a part of the "Get rid of the whack jobs attempting to infect America's next generations with garbage" in our schools and collages effort.
A total communist. You should tell your parents and have them move you to a new school
No, maybe a little nutty though.
