Yes, the REGULAR blue Dawn Dishwashing liquid is what you want since it matches the ph balance for dogs so they shouldn't itch afterwards. A rinse using Apple cider vinegar is something fleas don't like either. These two things are only good to rid your dog of fleas, not ticks.

Yes dish soap. Dawn. It will kill fleas on contact but the down fall is that it's good for 24 hour protection. Bath your pet with it.
if u have lots of room(10+acres) go with Guineas. They eat ticks, works, spiders, and even snakes! But they need room, and a tree to roost.
