Genetics problem grade 11 help please:(?

My teacher made up this story about a murder for our lab. The murderer is known to have a made up disease called Malsanguine. I'm suppose to do pre-lab questions to get started.

INFO: Malsanguine only affects people with A, B or AB blood types. Therefore, individuals with O-type are not affected even if they possess the recessive genotype (considered to be carriers)

i have a question i am confused about

3.) a suspect has AB type blood. a sample of blood from the crime scene agglutinates when anti b antibodies are placed in sample and but not with anti a antibodies are placed in sample.

a) was it the suspect at the crime scene? how do you know?

b) what is the blood type of the blood isolated from the crime scene?

c.) if antibodies were isolated from the the suspects body, what type of antibodies would you expect to see?

  • a. If anti-B agglutinates the blood, but anti-A does not, then those red cells possess the B antigen, but not the A antigen. Therefore that blood is type B - not AB. So it is NOT the suspect's blood.

    b. The blood isolated from the crime scene is type B.

    c. The suspect's blood has no anti-A and no anti-B.

    If he had either antibody, he would agglutinate his own red cells.

  • a) the blood from the crime scene does not belong to the suspect. It would agglutinate with both anti a and anti b antibodies

    b) B (only agglutinates with anti b antibodies)

    c) neither anti a, nor anti b antibodies
