Is NaHC2O4 acidic, basic, or neutral?

I think it is basic because Na is the conjugate acid of a strong base, and HC2O4^- is a weak base, but it says it is wrong.

Can you tell me what I did wrong?

Update:

are the rest grouped correctly because it says one of them is wrong.

acidic:

NH4Br

FeCl3

basic:

Na2CO3

NaHC2O4

neutral:

KClO4

Comments

  • HC2O4- is a weak acid

    NaOH is a strong base

    NaHC2O4 is basic

  • It appears to be basic from the formula. However HC2O4 is amphiprotic (it can act as an acid or a base). If you compare the Ka of H2C2O4 to its Kb(HC2O4), you will see that the Ka is larger than the Kb. Therefore, it is acidic.

  • its basic

  • It is Acidic
