Should I trade my 2007 Pontiac G6 for a 2003 Toyota Corolla Sport?

I always wanted the totyota Corolla Sport but when I went to look for a car (used) there were none available within my price range. So I got a G6. Car runs great, no complaints...but it eats gas like theres no tomorrow. I now have an opportunity to buy a 2003 Corolla sport. Not a real financial concern as the price is equal. Only catch is mileage.

G6 has 44,000

Corolla has 120,000

What should I do?

Update:

I could get a new corolla sport, but it would cost me about 5,000 - 10,000 thousand more.

New is about 26,000

G6 value is 15,000

My current financing is 20,000.

I would sell the G6, have 5,000 left over and than buy a Sport for 26,000.

Now my financing is 31,000.

  • Don't get the new Corolla Sport (I assume you mean 2009 year model). The 2009 model Corolla is significantly heavier than 2003 - 2008 era generation Corolla which translates as it doesn't get as good mpg as the '03 - '08 generation. My Corolla w/ auto gets a fairly consistent 31 in the city and 38 hwy. ..but I did manage to get 40mpg city once by hypermiling. :) The engine in all '03 - '08 Corollas has a timing chain, not a belt. At 120k miles it might need changing. My Corolla has nearly 50k miles on it of 100% trouble free service. ..and is just now needing its first set of brake pads. In any case if you do get get rid of the G6 in favor of the Corolla you will take big loss financially. btw..if you wanted the Corolla you should have hung on until one was available instead of settling for the G6.

  • NO NO NO NO. I understand your gas consumption concern but why take the financial loss, and if someone is selling an 03 Corolla for the same as an 07 G6, they need their head examined. Take the G6 to the dealer because I hear of some recalls with the car that are related to fuel concerns. Do a google search about it. I would exhaust all options before taking that kind of step.

  • I have the G6 too and you are not kidding about the gasoline

I wanted to trade mine for the Toyota Solaro myself

My only thing w/ you trading for the 2003 would be that you may have more mechanical issues than the G6 but other than that I would not blame you at all

Is there anyway you can get the Corolla Sport in a new?

  • Tough call, at 120,000 km the Toyota may need new brakes, struts and timing belt pump replaced. Unless this was already done, no to mention tires. I would stick with the G6, every time you trade vehicles you lose money and you can end up with a vehicle which may not have had stellar maintenance history.

  • No. that must be paying for and advertising down. keep in mind that even whether that's stated as the sport, it remains very slow and slower than the Pontiac. The Pontiac's indoors is likewise plenty nicer with a extra contemporary layout and extra contemporary technologies. The Pontiac additionally nonetheless has guarantee and would have it for yet another 8-9 years.
