How do I change my "primary" email address?

I tried to check a different one but it won't let me. It freezes up on me.

  • Normally you only have to log off at the gear symbol (upper right corner) and login to the other mail.

    Look at the help: https://help.yahoo.com/kb/yahoo-email-address-sln2...

    Yahoo no longer picks the best answer. We out here would

    appreciate you doing it. Thanks. This link will show how.

    Many users would like to change their ID, explained

    below or in this link.

    http://help.yahoo.com/kb/index?page=content&id=SLN...

    The below information explains in more detail of what

    is in the above link.

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    Once it is created you cannot change it. The best option

    is to create an ALIAS account... to your present email

    address and have the name that you would like it to be.

    This is how you create one. You can also create an

    EXTRA email address, which is explained in the above link.

    THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN ALIAS AND AN EXTRA

    EMAIL ADDRESS

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    … Click the link below to get an ALIAS email address for

    your existing account. It´s absolutely free. Use it just as

    you would for your primary address (which of course you

    can still use). To make things handy, you can send and

    receive email from either address from the same inbox.

    You will also, by doing this, not lose anything from your

    original account. IE: emails, contacts etc. Any email sent

    to either address will go to the same inbox and you can

    sign in to either email address with the same password.

    + ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    If you have set up your alias properly when you create a

    NEW email or FORWARD/REPLY to one that you have

    received the first screen you see will have your email

    address in the FM line. If you click on the down arrow on

    the right side of the FM line you will bring up your other

    email address. Click on that and it will replace your

    primary email address. If clicking on the down arrow on

    the right side of the FROM does not show the other email

    address it means you have not set your alias up properly.

    Recheck the steps you took.

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    If you would like to make the Alias email address the

    primary one so that it shows up when in the COMPOSE...

    REPLY or FORWARD mode...do this

    Hover the pointer over the "your avatar/name"...upper right..

    while on your homepage. (not your inbox)

    Then click on ACCOUNT SETTINGS...Click on the middle

    circle(edit)...upper.right ..once in click on EDIT MY

    CONTACT INFORMATION at the bottom of the CONTACT

    section. Reenter your password. Click on CHANGE following

    your present primary address...the next screen place a dot

    in the circle to the left of the email address you want as

    primary and then click on SAVE..

    ============================================

    If in your INBOX hover the pointer over the GEAR upper

    right...click on ACCOUNT INFO....reenter password..

    click on CHANGE on the right side of your present

    primary account email address...the next screen place a dot

    in the circle to the left of the email address you want as

    primary and then click on SAVE..
