how to reduce proccesor core temp(core 2 duo e7500~2.93ghz)?

my computer has an overheating problem. Core 0 is at 52*C.......while core 1-37*C(in total 87*C) during idle state

I use windows 7. According to wat i know the two cores shud have similar temps. why is it happening.......how can it be fixed....

and is it affecting my system temp which is something like 78*C!

i added 4 extra fans(80mm).........now i took a better measure....opened the casing sides and am letting a table fan blow air into it.......its under 70*C.........so plz tell me how can i reduce my temp.....mobo is intel dg31pr

Update:

i am not overclocking

  • What you may need is a better thermal conductor material between the heatsink and the CPU.

Arctic Silver is one of the (if not "the") best products out there. Try that. Also consider getting an upgraded Heatsink and Fan combo to put on it.

Pretty much any of the coolers on this page and a tube of Arctic Silver is going to drop your CPU temp dramatically.

  • 2 things 1 u gut a bad chip

2 if u are overclocking u need to change the stock fan

  • well for one thing if you are overclocking definatly turn it down because you are running way too hot.

I would agree your cores should not have such a discrepancy in temp...

Is it possible that your processor heat sink and fan are not mounted securely? Or perhaps the thermal compound was not applied evenly?

  • are all you fans working with each other and not against? you need to flow the air through not circulate it, clean out dust from fans, especially CPU fan and heatsink. Check you r bios for temp. settings and don't overclock.

  • Remove processor and use a little bit of alcohol to remove old thermal compound and then put new compound on. Preferably one made with silver and not lead.

  • Try buying a CPU cooling source or a new case.
