I have a JVC GR-DVM50 video camara given to me by my mom but she lost the book and I cannot figure out how to down load my movies/pics to my new laptop. Please help!
Your video camera has a 'firewire' (i-link, IEEE1394, DVport) connector and that is what you need to use to transfer your video from your camcorder to your laptop.
If your laptop does not have a firewire port one can quite easily be fitted on *most* laptops.

To export your videos from DV Tape, you can use Windows Movie Maker to capture videos.
Once you plugged your device to computer while in "camera" mode, it is considered as a Video device by windows..
And in Movie maker, Press "Ctrl+R" combo to start capture from device.
And movie maker supports DV commands for your camera playback controls. So you do not need to use camera buttons to stop, f.fwd ,pause etc.
