How do you dye clothes naturally?

I want to turn last year's halloween costume (an angel) into a kind of mother nature outfit (because there are absolutely NO cute teen mother nature costumes)

So to do that I'd need a green dress. I've never dyed anything before so that might be a problem...

How do I dye something dark green using natural ingredients that I can find around my house?
