I am an oral reader, how do I improve my speed?

I have tried to not imagine myself saying the words out loud in my head but I can't get myself to stop. How can I eventually become a visual reader?

    Start with whispering. Read out loud in a whisper.

    Use a ruler to help you concentrate which line you are at for a focus.
