Do you use "Jap" as an insult?

I doubt all Americans use it only as an insult.

  • I've never used that word in my life.

  • do you mean Jewish American Princess or Japanese person? I haven't heard Jap referring to a Japanese person since watching the last WWII movie I've seen, however JAP as referring to Jewish American women is also an insult. It refers to a certain segment of Jewish women who people perceive as acting like princesses, stuck up and snobby.

  • No- that's kind of dated don't you think? Any word used in a derogatory manner (even with that races community) is an insult.

  • I don't use this sort of language...in fact, I don't refer to anyone in terms of their ethnic heritage...I choose to see people as people and not as objects to categorize. If people do choose to refer to people by their ethnicity, it's wise to refer to people by their actual ethnicity and NOT use slang, racist terms. We all know "Jap" is a racist term used by ignorant, awful Americans. Let's move to higher ground and leave those terrible words behind.

  • What is this, 1955? :)

I actually heard someone use that word back in 1989 and found it to be really odd. I don't think people are concerned about the Japanese any more. :)

  • I DON'T USE IT AT ALL. WHAT A HORRIBLE TERM.

GOOD LORD. I KNEW PEOPLE STILL INSULTED MY PEOPLE WITH THE N WORD, BUT I DIDN'T REALIZE PEOPLE STILL USED THIS TOO.

IT IS UGLY. THERE IS NO GOOD USE FOR IT.

  • no, that went out with world war 11

  • Hell no. That's a horrible word. It has anger and hate behind it from WWII.

  • I used to...but now I just call them "the people that make really quality cars".
